Showing hospitality

Dear friends at St. Stephen’s UMC!

Hebrews 13 says, “Keep on loving one another as brothers and sisters.  Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.”

We are often called to serve and do not know the effect we have on others but in so doing we may be paving the way to extend love, affirmation, and compassion to strangers.  We may not know the effect that our generosity has upon their lives but the slightest gesture can reshape someone’s outlook on life and the direction they are going, can lift their spirits and give them hope.

That being said I wanted to let you know that this week I received a letter from Cheryl Ramos with Norman Public Schools and she let me know that our Christmas Eve offering changed the lives of nine families and a total of 17 students at Whittier Middle School!  Your generous giving on that most holy night paid off the negative balance for these 17 students on their lunch accounts.

By your generous spirit we were able to make sure that students were able to eat lunch and be prepared for an afternoon of learning.  Way to Go St. Stephen’s! Good Work and who knows maybe we brightened the life of an angel! Thanks

Shalom,

Patrick
