Music ministries

“When in our music God is glorified...” These words from the 20th-century Methodist minister and hymn writer Fred Pratt Green epitomize St. Stephen’s views on music in the church. With a long history of outstanding music, featuring various styles and mediums, St. Stephen’s is a church that offers something for everyone and is passionate about music. The choirs and instrumentalists enrich worship and participate in special musical services.

The following opportunities are available for anyone interested in participating in St. Stephen's Music Ministries. All are welcome!

  • Adult choir

Adult Choir rehearses Wednesday evenings from 7 to 8 p.m. Leading the music for

both the 8:30 and 10:50 Sunday morning services, the choir also performs a concert of secular music in the fall, a service of Lessons and Carols during Advent, and a Tenebrae service on Good Friday.

  • Handbell choirs

Fellowship of the Ringers and Ring with Joy, our two adult handbell choirs, provide music for Sunday services periodically and also perform concerts in December and in the spring. Ring with Joy rehearses on Sunday evenings from 5 to 6 p.m., and Fellowship of the Ringers rehearses on Wednesdays from 6 to 7 p.m.

  • Children's music

Children play a vital role in the music ministry of our church. Learning to sing and play chimes during Sunday School, with another opportunity on Sunday evenings during SNL (Sunday Night Live), we embrace the joy that they bring to our Sunday morning services at various times throughout the year.

  • instrumentalists

Instrumentalists are woven into our services and special musical presentations during the year.

No matter your level of expertise, we invite you to join us. All are welcome! For more information about the Music Ministries program, contact the church office at (405) 321-4988 or email music@ststephensnorman.org.
