Love one another

Prayer and care ministries

An important part of our vision is to care for one another and to offer sanctuary and healing. St. Stephen's is a loving, caring community that supports one another and prays together through life's joys and sorrows.

  • Homebound and care center visitation

St. Stephen's Care Team extends God’s love to others in a very special way. We ask each member of the Care Team to look after one person in our community. Typically this person is homebound (or in a group facility) and during Covid we care through phone calls and note writing. At Advent we create a special gift for these persons to remind them of the love coming from the St. Stephen's community. These gifts will be distributed through a modified caroling event closer to Christmas.

At this time the Care Team gathers occasionally by Zoom to stay connected and communicate with staff. Care Team members make the team aware of special needs and share in the problem-solving. Team members commit to serve one year at at time.

  • Meal preparation

We are presently discouraged from events with food, so our meal preparation ministry is in "carry out or delivery" mode! We organize our group to make a complete meal which is later picked up or delivered to the family's home. We provide meals for hospitalization, a death in the family or other crisis. Our coordinator contacts Care Team members as needed to provide one or two items for a meal.

  • DRIVERS

Occasionally, drivers are needed to provide transportation to worship or doctor visits. We especially need drivers weekdays and on Sunday mornings. During Covid times we understand not all persons will feel comfortable sharing air in a vehicle. That is why we ask for rides with the understanding that we all have different levels of comfort when it comes to sharing physical space. Please contact the church office at 405-321-4988 if you would like to volunteer as a drive or Care Team member.

  • Prayer team

The prayer team provides prayer and spiritual support to those in need. Group members receive prayer requests each Tuesday by email and gather to pray collectively each week. Prayer requests are considered confidential and are collected and emailed by the director of Care Ministries. Submit prayer requests below.
