We are walking this year for Lent. The Road to Jerusalem is our theme, and we are also encouraging physical activity in our Walk to Jerusalem program.
So, in thinking about walking, I am thinking about what we are walking toward. We hope to walk toward deeper spiritual awareness. But as we walk we also think of what else we are walking toward – something hopeful, promising. Or maybe something daunting, frightening. We might be walking toward what is both frightening and promising at the same time. Or perhaps we think we know where we are headed, but what lies ahead, or between, is always unkown. Jesus own walk toward Jerusalem was a walk to what was intimidating, fearful, and fateful.
With all that, it's good to not walk alone. So we walk with support, with community, and always with God. As you walk this week, image the divine presence that is always with you. And walk in peace.
